Ready when the driver pulls in.

Orbit is a navigation app for iPhone and CarPlay with a voice assistant built in. We're adding order-ahead: a driver asks for their usual, Orbit picks your location on their way, and the order reaches your kitchen timed to their arrival, through the ordering system you already use.

Order-ahead is in development. Orbit is in beta on iPhone and CarPlay today, and we're choosing a small group of launch partners.

How it works

One sentence from the driver's seat.

  1. The driver asks"Order my usual from Corner Coffee" by voice, on the phone or on the car's screen, or a tap on your location along the route.
  2. Orbit picks the right locationThe one on their way, open, with the least detour, and shows the order, the total and the pickup time.
  3. They confirmA tap or a spoken yes. Orbit never places an order on its own, and payment and loyalty stay with your app or ordering system.
  4. Your kitchen gets it on timeThrough your ordering platform (Olo, Square, Toast or your own API), sent so it's ready as they pull in, not sitting on the counter.

5% per order. Orbit’s fee is 5% of the items, with no per-order charge and nothing monthly; your usual card fee applies as on any sale. Drivers pay Orbit a small Interstellar fee on top, 99¢ under $10 and $2 at $10 or more, shown before they order. Read the partner terms.

Why Orbit

Drivers already on their way to you.

Orbit knows the route and the arrival time, so an order can land when it should: fresh at the counter or the pickup window as the car arrives.

  • Timed to the drive. Orbit's arrival times account for traffic and the weather on the route, so the kitchen starts at the right moment.
  • On the car's screen. Orbit is a CarPlay navigation app: ordering by voice keeps the driver's eyes on the road.
  • Calm by design. No banner ads and no pop-ups. Your brand shows up because the driver asked for it.
  • Private. You get the order and the pickup time. Drivers' routes and locations are never shared with you or anyone else.

What a launch partner gets

  • First on Orbit when order-ahead launches, named in the app and on our site.
  • Built around your system: we connect to the ordering platform you already run. No new tablets.
  • A say in the design: menus, timing and pickup flows shaped with your team.
  • Made in Detroit, by a small team that answers its email.
Why be first

Orders from drivers already on their way.

Catch them on the route

Orbit picks the driver's own location, or the one ahead on their route, so the order comes to the store they're about to pass.

Regulars, on repeat

Quick orders and "same as last time" turn a favorite drink into a one-sentence habit, every morning.

Hot, on time

The pickup time is their arrival time, and it moves if they're running late. Your team makes it when it should be made.

Bigger orders

"Make it two", "add number 2", a second item for a passenger, each read back and confirmed.

Curbside, no new hardware

Arrivals and car notes land on the order in the system you already run. No tablets, no new screens for your team.

Your brand, front and center

Your logo on the store page, the order card and the car's screen. No ads, no competing offers on your page.

Launch partners are the brands drivers see first.

  • Named in the app, in our launch announcement and on this page.
  • Your menu, timing and pickup flow shaped with your team before launch.
  • Built on the ordering platform you already use.
  • A small group of launch partners, and spots are limited.
Connecting to Orbit

What it takes, for the system you run.

Every connection starts with the partner terms. After that it depends on how you take orders today. Orders always arrive in your own system, marked Orbit SI with the driver’s first name and pickup time.

Square · about 2 minutes

Self-serve, no call needed. Connect your Square: accept the partner terms, sign in to Square as the account owner or an admin, and allow Orbit. Your locations and menu come in on their own, with each location’s prices and sold-out items, and each location goes live as soon as it has a street address and something on the menu. You get an email saying what’s live. Orders land in Square like any online order. Nothing to install.

Olo, Toast and other ordering platforms

We connect through your platform as an ordering partner. We’ll need: which platform you use, your brand or account ID there, a list of the locations to start with, and someone on your team who can approve Orbit inside the platform. The menu, prices and payment stay in your platform. Timing depends on the platform’s partner approval.

Your own app or ordering API

For brands with their own ordering system. We’ll need: API documentation and a test environment, a test store, how menus and orders are sent, order status updates (in progress, ready, canceled), and how payment and loyalty should work. We build to your system and test with your team before any driver sees it.

Not sure what you use?

Tell us the name on your register or the company behind your online ordering, and we’ll work out the path with you. Most cafés and restaurants run one of the systems above.

Talk to us

Let's get your first order to the window.

On Square? Connect in about two minutes, no call needed. On another system, tell us about your brand and the ordering platform you use, and we'll reply within two business days.
