Common questions

Orbit doesn't show up on CarPlay

On your iPhone open Settings › General › CarPlay, choose your car and make sure Orbit is listed. Then unplug and reconnect, or restart the car's screen.

Siri opens a different app in the car

Hold the voice button and say "Ask Orbit" or "Talk to Orbit". Your car's own voice button may go to the car maker's assistant instead of Siri; holding it longer usually brings up Siri.

The voice is quiet or doesn't speak

Check Settings › Voice in Orbit, the iPhone's volume while a direction is speaking, and that the ring/silent switch isn't hiding it through the car. Orbit lowers your music while it talks instead of stopping it.

How does the assistant work?

Orbit's assistant is powered by Claude from Anthropic when "Smarter answers" is on, and by Apple's on-device model otherwise. It looks things up with Orbit's own maps and weather and speaks the answer. See Privacy for what's sent.

EV charging stops look wrong

In Settings › My EV, pick your car (or set its battery, efficiency and plugs), and set your battery level on the route card before you go. Orbit estimates your charge from there.

Miles or kilometers

Orbit follows your iPhone's region. To choose yourself: Settings › Units.
