In a car or on a motorcycle, Orbit can tell when you've crashed. It asks if you're OK, out loud and on screen, and if you don't answer, your family gets an urgent alert with where you are and directions to you.

If you go down, your family knows where.

In a car or on a motorcycle, Orbit can tell when you've crashed. It asks if you're OK, out loud and on screen. If you don't answer within a minute, your Orbit Family gets an urgent alert with where you are and directions to you.

  • Answer without the phone. After a crash your phone may be out of reach. Say "I'm OK" and Orbit stands down. Say "help" and your family is told right away.
  • Hard to miss, easy to find. A clear two-note chime repeats while Orbit asks, and keeps going for a few minutes after, so you or someone helping can find the phone by sound.
  • Built for bikes and cars. On a motorcycle Orbit looks for a hard hit with the phone tumbling. In a car, a harder hit. Either way you have to be moving first and then stay stopped, so potholes, hard braking and a dropped phone don't count.
  • Straight to you. Your family taps the alert and Orbit opens with directions to where you are.
  • Texts to people you choose. With a free Orbit account, up to 5 emergency contacts get a text with a map link to you, even if they don't have Orbit. Each one agrees first by replying YES. How texts work
  • Nobody left out by accident. In an Orbit Family it's on for everyone. If someone turns it off, the rest of the family is told, and they show "Crash alert off" in red.
  • Free, always. Crash alert is free, and so is setting up an Orbit Family. Safety is never behind a paywall.

On automatically for everyone in an Orbit Family, and anyone can turn it on or off in Settings › Alerts. It works while you're driving with Orbit open, on a mount or with CarPlay. It's not a replacement for 911: there's a Call 911 button on the screen.

Questions

Crash alert: common questions

Does it work on a motorcycle?

Yes. Orbit is tuned separately for cars and motorcycles. On a bike it looks for a hard hit with the phone tumbling; in a car, a harder hit. You have to be moving first and then stay stopped, so potholes and a dropped phone don't count.

What if I'm OK?

Say "I'm OK" and Orbit stands down. You don't need to touch the phone.

Who gets told?

Your Orbit Family gets an urgent alert with where you are and directions. With a free account, up to 5 emergency contacts can get a text with a map link, even without Orbit. Each one agrees first.

Does it replace 911?

No. It tells your people where you are. There's a Call 911 button on the screen.
